# Update Existing Protein

Existing proteins can be updated using one of many links on each protein page, these are the most notable:

* "Edit States/Attributes" button below the Attributes table
* "Submit a change" button at the bottom of the page.

Either of those will bring you to that protein pages update form: [www.fpbase.org/protein/\`protein\_slug\`/update/](http://www.fpbase.org/protein/`protein_slug`/update/)

The form is the same as the [new submission form](/contributing/submit-protein.md), but pre-populated with the existing data.
